CAVE TUBING, ZIP LINE, & RUINS

  • Full-Day Mainland Adventure

This three-in-one combo tour is our most popular mainland trip. It combines an incredible archeological visit with a zip line adrenaline rush, and finally a lazy cave tubing adventure! In Cayo, you’ll cross the Mopan River on a hand-cranked ferry, followed by a short hike to the Maya site. Once at Xunantunich, you’ll get to explore the extensive remnants of this intriguing ancient site. El Castillo is a temple at Xunantunich that affords a vast scenic view over the surrounding rainforest and well into nearby Guatemala. Wear your climbing shoes and try not to look down! The Maya ruins of Belize are some of the last in the world that allows travelers to explore them up close and personal and enjoy their views from atop.

After lunch, enjoy soaring over the rainforest canopy on the zip line course located in the nearby Nohoch Che’en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve. Finally, get suited up to enjoy some cave tubing! After a short hike to the cave entrance, hop on your inner tube and let the natural current of the river take you downstream. Flip on your headlamp and gaze upon the crystal formations throughout this mysterious Belizean underworld.

We strongly recommend choosing the flight to arrive on the mainland instead of the ferry, for it will give you an additional three hours of time to explore the jungle and make the most of the excursion.

ATM CAVE MAYA UNDERWORLD

  • Full-Day Mainland Adventure & Hike

An optimal excursion for adventure seekers, this extensive ATM cave system in Belize is full of folklore, mystery, and skeletons. The Actun Tunichil Muknal cave is a living museum that invites visitors in freely — if they dare. Think Indiana Jones meets archaeological expedition.

This underground hike can pose a bit of a challenge for some, but the path isn’t overly steep or strenuous for most. You will be doing a bit of hiking, climbing, scooting & shimmying, maneuvering through jagged outcrops and a few tight spaces, wading through underground rivers, and swimming in a few parts, both inside and outside of the cave. Your tour guide will provide lots of assistance and give instructions through the challenging spots! The outdoor hike to and from the cave entrance is 45 minutes each way, and plan to spend around two hours actually inside the cave. Please note that cameras are no longer allowed inside the ATM cave, you will need to leave these items locked inside your tour van with anything you don’t want to get wet. This excursion gives visitors the adventure of a lifetime and is highly recommended for a memorable day on mainland Belize.

BLACK HOLE DROP

  • Full-Day Mainland Adventure

If you are seeking something thrilling and challenging, try the Black Hole Drop Rappelling at Actun Loch Tunich — a.k.a. the “mother of all caves.” This sinkhole in the jungle of the Maya Mountains offers a 300 ft. drop into darkness, which begins 200 ft. above the tops of the rainforest trees rooted in the sinkhole floor. After you rappel down to the base, you are treated to a traditional Belizean lunch and a rest before your long climb back up to civilization. The rainforest hike to and from the Black Hole is around an hour each way. This tour is rather strenuous but offers lots of rewarding fun for more athletic adults and children.
