What to Expect
While on property you’ll be able to experience the richness of life in the tropics. From the cooing of the doves at dawn to falling asleep to the rustling of palm fronds in the evening breezes to the patter of a rain shower on the tin roof. Let us help you come prepared, below are a few things that you should know before experiencing our island resort for the first time.
Partners in Paradise
Mahogany Bay Resort is home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna that will make your visit memorable. Take note of what you see during your stay: birds, iguanas, raccoons, geckos, and crocodiles are just a few animals on property. We also share the same habitat with insects that make the tropics (and Mahogany Bay Resort) their home. We are committed to keeping this valuable ecosystem in balance and do our best to reduce the population of some less pleasant species. Our eco-sensitive program will not eliminate all pests as they are a much needed partner in this paradise, so please take a moment to enjoy the diversity of our surrounding environment.
Carting Around
Mahogany Bay Resort and Beach Club spans over 16 acres in San Pedro. On Ambergris Caye, golf carts are the primary way to get around. This is a fun, unique alternative to traditional transportation and is an easy way to explore the island. Unlike many other countries, you can feel safe and at ease on our island roads— just watch out for pedestrians and the occasional crab crossing the road. There are no sidewalks in San Pedro so be mindful of those traveling on scooters, bikes, or on other golf carts.
